The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is expanding its blockchain education initiatives with a new Government Blockchain Academy, targeting policymakers and officials. Robert Pasicko of UNDP's AltFinLab revealed the program will commence operations within weeks, initially collaborating with four governments.

Separate from its existing internal UN staff academy launched in 2024, this initiative focuses on legislative implementation. Developed with the Exponential Science Foundation, the academy will combine blockchain, AI, and emerging technologies to transform public service delivery across five key focus areas.

The program was formally announced at TOKEN2049 in Singapore (October 2025), with preparatory work beginning immediately for a 2026 rollout. This strategic MOVE signals growing institutional recognition of blockchain's potential to modernize governance frameworks globally.
